Should we partner with Pluck?

http://www.pluck.com/products/technology.html

Major Media Companies Using Pluck Will Be Able To Mesh Social Nets With Facebook, OpenSocial
By editor
Pluck, which serves more than 200 media web sites reaching tens of millions of users, will offer integration of its SiteLife social net platform with Facebook in the first quarter of '08 and Google's (NSDQ: GOOG) OpenSocial midyear. Media outlets using Pluck include Reuters, (NSDQ: RTRSY) The Washington Post, (NYSE: WPO) Gannett, (NYSE: GCI) Discovery, The Economist, Freedom Interactive, CBC, Rodale and Meredith. Integrating with Facebook, MySpace and the like offers them a chance to expand the social realm for their users and reach a larger audience.

Seems like this could be an extension to OCP.

MySpace Self Serve service

MySpace will announce plans to introduce a new advertising platform, “SelfServe by MySpace,” at Ad:Tech early November. The service itself will launch to a limited set of advertisers in the next sixty days.

SelfServe by MySpace will allow advertisers to directly purchase, create (see screen shot below) and analyze the performance of ads throughout the MySpace network, in a similar fashion to Google Adwords (although the MySpace platform is for building display ads, not text ads). MySpace will be the first of the big social networking sites to announce an advertising product such as this, with Facebook said to be announcing a similar service Tuesday.

The new tool will enable users to select from a number of ad targeting factors such as geographic, demographic, and various user interest categories. The service will be ready for use by early 2008. The minimum advertisement purchase size is $10; pricing will be based on a click to the advertiser’s profile and will be auction based once it gets going (to start things off, MySpace will charge a fixed CPC based on the category).

MySpace says there 23 million small and local businesses in the U.S. (citing government statistics) Only about 1 million of them advertise online, and those that do generally advertise only via search (Google, Yahoo, Microsoft). MySpace says about 10 million businesses maintain a profile on the service. The goal of the product is to give those businesses a new way to reach out to the community.

Ad Networks for RSS feeds

Great overview of possible RSS ad networks:
http://www.doshdosh.com/monetize-rss-feed-advertising/

Labels:

Adify Partners

Complete list: http://www.adify.com/networks.html

Some special ones:

- Martha's Circle
http://www.marthastewart.com/marthas-circle

- iVillage Woman network
NBC bought Oxygen Media for $925 Million. iVillage + Oxygen gives them a pretty big presence in the women’s demographics. I believe, iVillage is also pulling together a women focused vertical blog ad network with Adify, in which NBC invested alongside Time Warner.

- Gay Ad Network
Over two dozen independent publishing partners who represent over 200 web sites are involved in the network and offer advertisers an unprecedented reach into the online gay community.

- Sports Ad Network
Let’s take the example of Time Warner’s new Sports Ad Network being launched with Adify and Sports Illustrated. Hundreds and thousands of high quality Sports bloggers all over the world would now be able to access (a) Audience / Traffic (b) Higher CPM Ad Inventory from large scale branding campaigns because of this network, and can focus exclusively on producing quality content, without having to “Digg” around.

- Computerworld technology ad network
Computerworld is also launching a similar ad network with Adify focused on a technology (IT) audience, which is their core competency, and numerous technology bloggers would now be able to monetize their blogs via this network, as well as expand their reach into a targeted audience.

Of course, this is all predicated upon the fact that the Ad Network is of the caliber of WSJ, Business Week, CNN Money (Business), National Geographic, Travel & Leisure (Travel), and CNet, ComputerWorld, PC Magazine, etc. (Technology). If Adify can bring these networks to bear, then this would be the path to salvation for many vertical publishers. http://sramanamitra.com/2007/05/14/monetizing-blogs-via-ad-networks/
